Richard Squires re-works the greek myth of Oedipus playing the central role with his parents as the gender-confused king and queen. His father plays Queen Iocasta, his mother King Laius. Oedipus stumbles through a series of humiliations - from friends, from his shrink and from a quiz show host - murdering his father (mother?) having intercourse with his mother (father?) and eventually blinding himself.

"You need to delight in amateur dramatics to sit through Richard Squires' 'The Three Humiliations of Oedipus' which attempts a contemporary version of the myth."

THE THREE HUMILIATIONS OF OEDIPUS was shown at the BBC2 British Short Film Festival and the Whitechapel Open 1994.
